The second Sunday of the Blackpool Dance Festival sees two fabulous competitions coming to their very exiting climax, these are the Amateur Rising Star Ballroom and Latin competitions, which are simply wonderful theatres of dance.
The Amateur Ballroom saw some quite brilliant performances from the potential champions of the future.
The final round produced a display of skilled dancing from young and exiting exponents who are well into the study of high level dance.
Winners, by being placed first in all four dances, were Mark Chilcote and Maddison Ingoldsby. They are riding on the crest of a wave at present and leading the way in this very strong category. The attention to detail and musical charisma is without doubt providing them with a powerful and almost indestructible platform of competitive dance.
Runners up by being third in Waltz and second in the other dances came Maksymilian Serafin and Weronika Majerowska tremendous flight of movement and all with so much pursuance of balance and control. There was a considerable display of action through the feet and ankles which were in constant use. Through each dance one could feel the musicality within the performance as well as see this wonderful attribute.
3rd William Kun Wang and Ivy Wan Xu very interesting final analysis marks, they were second in the Waltz, third in Tango and Quickstep but 6th in the Foxtrot. There was clearly something in their Foxtrot that didn’t offer enough for the judges. However this was just a slight hicup because it all changed for them in the next two dances as the analysis shows. They posess great fire and drive which is so effective.
4th Eika Sotome and Partner a great level of technical awareness that was without doubt contributing to their overall finishing positions which was, Fourth in Waltz, Tango and Quickstep and Third in the Foxtrot. Consistency was their clear game plan as one could see nothing was left to chance. There was a persuasion of dance flare excellence which provided such an attractive portrayal of the chosen choreography and the changing rhythms.
5th Ivan Ivanyk and Valeriia Derkach wonderful elegance of style, sculptured to near perfection. They were very comfortable in the final round as they steered their dancing beautifully around this magnificent Empress Ballroom floor. One could see the great expanse of upper body styling as the heads remained separate at all times and then we see shape production with super control and delivery.
6th Kyrylo Novikov and Tallulah Wilkinson this was a performance that captured the imagination, if one closes ones eyes and visualises dancers in timed syncronicity then this couple would certainly come into mind. The movement was soft, swift and rolling like a beautifully scupltured ball of pure marble. It is so good to see a Gentleman protecting his lady in the hustle and bustle of top competition. They were very worthy of the fourth place in the Foxtrot which just encompasses the points already written.
